POSITION SUMMARY
The role of Graphic Designer involves creative delivery of campaigns and projects, from brief to concept to final art across a wide variety of projects. These include social campaigns, print, signage, event collateral, merchandise, photography, video, and animation.
Key marketing and advertising projects include membership promotion, events, club activities, entertainment venue promotion, advertising of Arc volunteering programs; all with a strong client service focus. The Graphic Designer is required to liaise with and maintain positive relationships with other Arc Departments and external suppliers, in all marketing collateral related issues.
Experience with print and digital media are required and familiarity with maintaining brand integrity is important for this role. This role must have experience working with Adobe Creative Suite programs such as InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, plus a solid understanding of Premier Pro, Lightroom and After Effects and an interest in photography and video.
ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT
Arc @ UNSW is a public company, limited by guarantee, governed by a Board of Directors. Arc is a voluntary student membership organisation that provides recreational, cultural, representational and retail services to the students of the University of New South Wales (UNSW). The organisation operates commercial businesses to maintain financial viability and to provide student services and programs for members.
Arc @ UNSW directly employs approximately 70 staff on a permanent basis and approximately 200 casual employees. The organisation also utilises the time and resources of a large number of student volunteers to administer programs and events. Sub-brands managed by Arc include Arc Clubs, Arc Volunteering, Arc Sport, Arc Wellness, Arc Creative, Roundhouse, Home Ground and The Grad Shop.
Arc Marketing department delivers high quality end-to-end creative services by conceptualising, designing and coordinating the production of internal and external publications, promotional material for integrated campaigns including event production and signage installation. 2 November 2025 Marketing is a centralised service that is led by the General Manager of Marketing, Strategy & Experience. Marketing has both a front office and back-office function: it builds and promotes the organisation through managing its brand, producing promotional collateral and through the organisation’s website, public relations and communications.
KEY TASKS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop creative concepts, ideas, brands and campaigns from brief to implementation across print and digital platforms
- Take briefs from concept through to production, ensuring the work is executed to deadline with the highest standards and close attention to detail
- Create unique and original content that appeals to students
- Ensure that the development and implementation of the marketing material support the brand in an effective and visually engaging manner
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- 4+ years’ experience in a similar role • A portfolio of work that demonstrates creative, high quality design solutions across a broad range of projects and communications
- Strong eye for branding, design and attention to detail
- Experience in delivery of campaigns and projects from brief to concept to final print ready art
- Technical skills in the Adobe Creative Suite programs. Such as InDesign, Photoshop & Illustrator
- Experience in photography (studio shoots and live events) and video editing. Including technical skills in Lightroom and Premiere Pro
- The ability to work in a small, collaborative, fast paced environment
- Knowledge of illustration and animation – experience in Adobe After Effects a plus • Social media content creation experience a plus
- Youth marketing and an interest in events that appeal to students
