About the Role
Arc Wellness strives to put students’ health and happiness first. Mental health and wellbeing are more important than ever before, and one of the best ways we can improve wellbeing outcomes on campus is by empowering students to look out for one another.
As a Check Point Officer, you’ll help bring this to life by supporting students to build positive wellbeing habits and better navigate the unique challenges of uni life. You'll work alongside student volunteers to make wellbeing approachable and accessible – sharing practical tips and resources around nutrition, sleep, movement and mindfulness, helping students access nutritious food during high-stress study periods, and connecting students with relevant support services when they need them.
It’s a chance to make a real impact on student wellbeing while creating a positive peer-to-peer culture on campus.
Who Are We?
Arc is UNSW’s student organisation. We like to call ourselves the cool older sibling. We know that the best parts of going to uni is all the stuff you do outside the classroom, and we pride ourselves on making that experience awesome. We do that through a huge range of opportunities and services available to students online and in-person.
Working at Arc you’ll join a welcoming team of full of like-minded students, who believe in listening to students, working together and having fun between hard work. Work perks include professional development opportunities, the occasional work cake party, hot desk spaces, tickets to the Arc Annual Dinner, and more. But probably the best thing you’ll get out of working here are some friendships you’ll never forget.
Imposter Syndrome disclaimer:
If you’re reading this thinking, ‘no way can I do this, I have no experience’, you should know that some of the best student officers at Arc applied when they had no experience. We took them on because we believe in giving people their first chance, and because they showed they had a willingness to learn, problem solve and try new things. You could be that person too.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
As the Check Point Officer, you’ll work collaboratively with your co-officer to ensure the smooth delivery of the Check Point program through the following responsibilities:
- Coordinate and deliver Check Point initiatives, activations, and campaigns that promote student wellbeing, connection, and help-seeking.
- Support the day-to-day operation of the program, including the preparation, transportation, maintenance, and storage of equipment, resources, and materials used across activations.
- Recruit, coordinate, and support volunteers while fostering a positive and inclusive volunteer community.
- Assist with program administration, communications, marketing, reporting, bookings, and other activities that support effective program delivery.
- Attend and support morning, evening, examination period, and occasional weekend activations, helping students access wellbeing support when they need it most.
