About The Role
Bike-ology is one of Arc’s sustainability student programs dedicated to making cycling more accessible, affordable, and fun for the UNSW community. Through weekly workshops, Bike-ology helps students learn how to repair, maintain, and ride their bikes safely - all while promoting sustainable, active transport and reducing reliance on cars and public transport.
As the Bike-ology Officer, you’ll be hands-on in running the program. You’ll facilitate and support weekly bike workshops, assist participants in maintaining and repairing their bikes, oversee volunteers, and ensure the workshop space is safe, organised, and well-stocked. You’ll also help grow the program’s reach by developing partnerships, running promotional activities, and collaborating with other Arc programs.
This role is perfect for someone who’s passionate about sustainability, active transport, and empowering others through skill-sharing. If you’re practical, approachable, and love helping people get rolling, we’d love to hear from you!
Who are We?
Arc is UNSW’s student organisation. We like to call ourselves the cool older sibling. We know that the best parts of going to uni is all the stuff you do outside the classroom, and we pride ourselves on making that experience awesome. We do that through a huge range of opportunities and services available to students online and in-person.
Working at Arc you’ll join a welcoming team of full of like-minded students, who believe in listening to students, working together and having fun between hard work. Work perks include professional development opportunities, the occasional work cake party, hot desk spaces, tickets to the Arc Annual Dinner, and more. But probably the best thing you’ll get out of working here are some friendships you’ll never forget.
Imposter Syndrome disclaimer:
If you’re reading this thinking, ‘no way can I do this, I have no experience’, you should know that some of the best student officers at Arc applied when they had no experience. We took them on because we believe in giving people their first chance, and because they showed they had a willingness to learn, problem solve and try new things. You could be that person too.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
As the Bike-ology Officer, you’ll:
-
Keep the workshop space, tools, and equipment safe, functional, and ready for use.
