Arc is the cool older sibling at UNSW. We pride ourselves on our obsession with student life because we know that the best part of going to uni is all the fun stuff you do outside the classroom. Our mission is to create the best student experience and we do that through a huge range of opportunities and services available to students online and in person. Working at Arc you’ll join a welcoming team of passionate people who believe in listening to students, working together and constantly being better. Plus there are plenty of employee perks like cake, volleyball, Arc Wellness and heaps more.
About The Role
Arc Wellness strives to put students’ health and happiness first. Mental health and Wellbeing are more important than ever before, and one of the best ways we can improve wellbeing outcomes on campus is by empowering students to look out for one another. The Check Point Officer is responsible for establishing and running the Check Point program which has the following objectives:
-
Promote positive habits around basic needs, develop the wellbeing literacy of the student community, and speak to the unique challenges and pressures of the student experience.
-
Reduce barriers for students to access nutritional food at high stress periods in their study.
-
Provide students with relevant tips and information online, in print, and face to face to help navigate topics including nutrition, sleep, movement and mindfulness.
-
Provide a means through which student volunteers develop their interpersonal and professional skills and work in a team environment with other students.
-
Answer questions around mental health and wellbeing, referring students to relevant UNSW and external resources and support services.
Who are We?
Arc is UNSW’s student organisation. We like to call ourselves the cool older sibling. We know that the best parts of going to uni is all the stuff you do outside the classroom, and we pride ourselves on making that experience awesome. We do that through a huge range of opportunities and services available to students online and in-person.
Working at Arc you’ll join a welcoming team of full of like-minded students, who believe in listening to students, working together and having fun between hard work. Work perks include professional development opportunities, the occasional work cake party, hot desk spaces, tickets to the Arc Annual Dinner, and more. But probably the best thing you’ll get out of working here are some friendships you’ll never forget.
Imposter Syndrome disclaimer:
If you’re reading this thinking, ‘no way can I do this, I have no experience’, you should know that some of the best student officers at Arc applied when they had no experience. We took them on because we believe in giving people their first chance, and because they showed they had a willingness to learn, problem solve and try new things. You could be that person too.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
-
Assist in the development of project plans, timelines, budgets, volunteer rosters, runsheets, and logistics for small scale events and execute them within set parameters.
