About The Role 

Arc Wellness strives to put students’ health and happiness first. Mental health and Wellbeing are more important than ever before, and one of the best ways we can improve wellbeing outcomes on campus is by empowering students to look out for one another. The Check Point Officer is responsible for establishing and running the Check Point program which has the following objectives:  

1. Promote positive habits around basic needs, develop the wellbeing literacy of the student community, and speak to the unique challenges and pressures of the student experience. 

2. Reduce barriers for students to access nutritional food at high stress periods in their study. 

3. Provide students with relevant tips and information online, in print, and face to face to help navigate topics including nutrition, sleep, movement and mindfulness. 

4. Provide a means through which student volunteers develop their interpersonal and professional skills and work in a team environment with other students. 

5. Answer questions around mental health and wellbeing, referring students to relevant UNSW and external resources and support services.

Arc is UNSW’s student organisation. We like to call ourselves the cool older sibling. We know that the best parts of going to uni is all the stuff you do outside the classroom, and we pride ourselves on making that experience awesome. We do that through a huge range of opportunities and services available to students online and in-person.

We took them on because we believe in giving people their first chance, and because they showed they had a willingness to learn, problem solve and try new things. You could be that person too. 

Key Tasks & Responsibilities: 

• Program Operations 

• Maintain strong relationships and collaborate with supervisors, internal departments, UNSW Libraries and other Arc programs cohesively. 

• Manage the safe collection, transportation and dispensing of food from various campus locations. 

• Ensure all borrowed equipment is handled with care and returned promptly in perfect condition to the agreed locations. 

• Assist in the development of project plans, timelines, budgets, volunteer rosters, runsheets, and logistics for small scale events and execute them within set parameters. 

• Maintain up-to-date content across our online platforms (including website, and social media) providing opportunities for students to engage with their communities in a digital space. 

• Be prepared to work out of hours shifts, including late evenings 3 - 10 weeknights a term, and occasional weekends if necessary. (You will be paid overtime for out of hours work.) 

• Volunteer Coordination  

• Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteers 

• Help to build a passionate community of volunteers and facilitate social, interpersonal and professional development opportunities for them.  

• Maintain clear and consistent communication as the point of contact for volunteers to direct and guide them through necessary tasks and events. 

• Logistics & Admin  

• Track volunteer data and facilitate sufficient volunteering opportunities for AHEGS accreditation.  

• Track metrics and meet targets around student engagement and participation in relation to program goals & KPTs.  

• Complete risk assessments, safety briefings, and other ad hoc administration tasks.
