The Peer Mentoring Officer (Great Mates) is an entry-level, casual position that will create and deliver a peer support program called Great Mates. The role is casual (up to 20 hours per week for 15 weeks) and will coordinate mentor recruitment, mentor training, mentee logistics and social events for the program. The Officer will be responsible for designing engaging training for mentors and overseeing the schedule of delivery for new mentees. The successful candidate will be exceptionally well-organised and be able to demonstrate leadership skills. The ideal candidate should have a keen understanding of what its like to start out at UNSW and how different students can get involved and get supported. The role will be mentored, supervised and nurtured in a safe and supportive environment so entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply.

Imposter Syndrome disclaimer: If you’re reading this thinking, ‘no way can I do this, I have no experience’, you should know that some of the best student coordinators at Arc applied when they had no experience. We took them on because we believe in giving people their first chance, and because they showed they had a willingness to learn, problem solve and try new things. You could be that person too.
